Meditation & Mindfulness

Grounded in the perennial wisdom of ancient spiritual teachings as well as present-day research, focused awareness meditation helps us learn how to witness and gently guide our minds. Through practices of attention, intention, and breath, we begin to find more steadiness and clarity within. This approach can be especially supportive for brains that are prone to worry, self-criticism, or rumination — offering tools that bring awareness back into the present moment and help us befriend our minds.

"Your consciousness is pure, happy, compassionate and kind by nature,
but to find that we must learn to let go of the unconscious turbulence that we can fall into
when we lose connection with our inner peace."
- Dr. Susan Taylor -

As a certified focused awareness meditation teacher, I’ve found that when we supplement formal meditation with compassion practices, the heart naturally engages. When we include the body — through breathwork, mindful movement, or relaxation — the benefits are embodied. Engaging in meditation or mindful practices outside can be a powerful reminder of our belonging—as poet Gary Snyder says, “Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.”

"Meditation can be a refuge, but it is not a practice in which real life is ever excluded. The strength of mindfulness is that it enables us to hold difficult thoughts and feelings in a different way—with awareness, balance, and love."
- Sharon Salzberg -
